Senior Director, Strategic Planning & Information Services
Elena Falcone is the Senior Director of Strategic Planning & Information Services for Consumers Union (CU), an expert, independent,
nonprofit organization whose mission is to work for a fair, just, and safe marketplace for all consumers. CU publishes Consumer Reports and ConsumerReports.org. As Senior Director, Ms. Falcone leads the ongoing work of strategic planning and analysis for the organization as well as
oversees the management of CU's information resources.
As part of her leadership role in managing the information assets of the organization, Ms. Falcone has built a state of the
art research department that continues to prove its value to the organization by ensuring that business and content decisions
are based on solid research.
Ms. Falcone has spearheaded a number of forward-looking initiatives aimed at forging new directions and ensuring the future
success and growth of the organization. These initiatives have included the Integrated Multimedia Plan and the Future Investment
Team.
During the past year, Ms. Falcone has led a process to create a strategic plan for the organization. This plan, the first
fully integrated approach to planning, considers every aspect of the work of Consumers Union and Consumer Reports to ensure future growth and success in years to come.
Ms. Falcone received her B.A. from New York University, Washington Square College of Arts and Sciences and her Master of Library
and Information Science from Queens College. She began her career as a Librarian at the Brooklyn Public Library and moved
on to research and management positions at Phillip Morris, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and PepsiCo, where she
expanded her skills to develop and promote news information services.
