Kevin McKean
Vice President, Editorial Director

Kevin McKean is the Vice President and Editorial Director of Consumers Union (CU), nonprofit publisher of Consumer Reports magazine and ConsumerReports.org. In this position, Mr. McKean oversees the editorial content and design for all of CU's publications, including special-interest publications, newsletters, and ConsumerReports.org, the nation's largest publication-based subscription Web site.

Prior to joining CU, Mr. McKean served as CEO and Editorial Director of InfoWorld Media Group, a San Francisco-based business-to-business publishing company with a weekly magazine serving a readership of 220,000 corporate IT buyers and a technology Web site with approximately 700,000 visitors each month. Mr. McKean led a team that turned around the troubled company, redesigning and re-launching its magazine and redesigning its Web site to differentiate it from other IT sites and focus on product and technology reviews. During his tenure, InfoWorld received 40 print and online editorial honors, including being named to B2B Magazine's "Power Media 50" in 2005.

A 1974 cum laude graduate of Yale University, Mr. McKean began his career as a Staff Writer and National Science Writer for the Associated Press. He later served as a Writer and Senior Editor for Discover magazine, Senior Editor for Money magazine and Founding Editor of Money.com, Assistant Managing Editor/Business & Finance at Time Inc. New Media, and Executive Editor at Forbes.com. From 2000 to 2003 he served as Editorial Director at PC World, where he had overall responsibility for the content and strategic focus of both the magazine, with a circulation of 1.2 million, and the Web site, with 3 million visitors per month. Mr. McKean worked with the editorial team to reshape the magazine's covers and gain newsstand share, and also worked with the lab and reviews teams to broaden coverage into new product categories. While under Mr. McKean's leadership, PC World won 50 print and online awards.

Mr. McKean is a frequent guest lecturer at colleges and conferences, and has appeared on many radio and television programs, including CNN and the morning shows of all three major networks.
