I have a small bedroom. This unit seems to cool the room down sufficiently. It is extremely loud. I wore earplugs last night so I could sleep.

Barn tack room

Purchased to replace a failing 15-year-old similar-sized GE mechanical thermostat 5000 btu unit for the window in our uninsulated 8x12x10h barn tack room. (We have barn cats that must be locked in the barn at night because of nocturnal predators that eat cats like they were M&Ms). Easy install, smaller footprint than the unit it replaced. Energy-star rating dropped the wattage a bit, too. Noise wasn't an issue because this unit isn't in a bedroom. It has the ability to automatically monitor the fan speed and/or turn the unit on and off based upon the temperature setting. Cooled the room very effectively. The most difficult part of this install was teaching the cats how to use the remote control!

Super easy to install. I put one in each of my kids bedrooms. Neither room would cool below 84. No issue now. The noise is minimal. Much lower than the small fans the kids have been using all summer.
