After issues with my last AC....I made some improvements. Covered all vents/openings in the housing outside with fiberglass window screen using silicone caulk. Last AC was always getting clogged with debris from trees, etc. Also add 1/4 mesh over exhaust fins outside using clear caulk to avoid bent fins. Added an extra filter over the filter provided inside to keep lint from clogging the inside fins. Without these mods this AC would lose efficiency after 1-2 yrs...and I avoid tedious spring cleaning of the fins and housing so air will flow and water will drip out. Added ~ a 6x8 section of foam insulation under the AC where water would condense and drip. This AC has the drain back more towards the window...rather than out at the front edge.

Have used this one full summer...the auto/econ mode is a bit squirrely....but other wise it seems to be fairly sensitive to temp changes and cools ~ 500-600 square feet OK on regular settings.

Govt should require ALL window ACs to have the ability to pull fresh air IN at night in serious quantities...much more efficient.

Doesn't seem to cool well at any setting. Comes on for a few minutes, turns itself off. Manual read, every setting tried. Returned to Lowe's for a new one which does the same thing.

Comment:
This a/c replaced one that had been in use for a number of years. I find this model to be excellent at cooling multiple rooms, very quiet (compared to the old unit), easy to install, and well-worth the price. I recommend it without hesitation. In fact, after my brother witnessed the a/c he went out and bought two identical models for his house.
