I bought this window unit to cool a 9'x16' attic room knowing that I needed more btus than a room this size would normally require. It cools very well, was easy to install and does a very good job. Is it quiet? Well, it's what you would expect from a unit this big...you can watch tv easily and converse normally but it makes more noise than you'd like for it to make.<br />I bought this brand because I had a coupon for 30% off at an outlet store and it was a choice between Haier and Sylvania.
