I have 2 of these units purchased in 2011: 1 for my bedroom and one for the living room. In contrast to the 5,000 BTU Frigidaire unit I bought this summer (now in the living room and cooling most of the first floor), the Kenmore 5,000 is noisy, cools slowly and is developing a musty smell. The evaporated water doesn't evaporate or drain but stays on the floor of the unit. Kenmore used to be a great, reliable brand. Disappointing.

We own two of these units, and they get a lot of use. They replaced older window air conditioners. The temperature control and energy efficiency of this air conditioner is a monumental improvement over our old air conditioners. 9 months after purchasing the first Kenmore 5200 btu,we bought a second for another room. Finally, they are very quiet for the amount of cooling they deliver. As I write this, the Kenmore air condioner is two feet to my left. I am watching tv and have no problem hearing.

I got my Kenmore 70051 in mid-June. It started out great. The beeps are a little loud but tolerable. What wasn't tolerable was having it quit working at the beginning of August. I contacted [@] via email and got a reply the next day saying that the 30 day return time had expired so contact the manufacturer followed by a lot of stuff that wasn't related to the air conditioner at all. Part of the reason I went with the Kenmore was the [@] reputation for standing behind their products, but i guess i'm behind the times because they don't anymore. I'd recommend trying some other product as 5.5 weeks is not long enough for any air conditioner to last.
