How quickly the air conditioner on its low fan setting cooled a room sized for the particular unit and how accurate it came to meeting the temperature set point.
Indoor noise low:
This judgment of indoor noise at the low-cool setting is the objective measurement of noise level using a sound meter.

Btu/hr. The unit's cooling capacity, as supplied by the manufacturer (and as certified by the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers, AHAM, unless otherwise noted in the Recommendations & Notes). Capacities range from 5,000 British thermal units per hour (enough for a modest-sized bedroom) up to 12,500 Btu/hr. (adequate for a large, sun-drenched room or even two interconnected rooms).
EER The energy-efficiency rating, as supplied by the manufacturer (and as certified by the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers, AHAM, unless otherwise noted in the Recommendations & Notes). The higher a unit's EER, the lower its operating cost compared with other models of its size.
Min window width (in.) The minimum and maximum window-widths into which the air conditioner will fit. If your window opening is narrower than the minimum width, the air conditioner will not fit. If your window opening is wider than the maximum width, the side panels will not cover the entire opening.

Weight (lbs.) In general, smaller-capacity models are lighter, while larger-capacity and some high-efficiency models tend to be heavier.
Remote control Much like the remotes for home-entertainment devices, these wireless devices control almost any function on the unit. They're especially useful if access to the air conditioner is limited, as when the unit is mounted through the wall at ceiling level. The remote generally works well anywhere in a room, although some may not work as well when they're used far to one side of the air conditioner.
This is the second full summer that I've used my unit. I'm a pretty good do-it-yourself person. I found the installation fairly easy. The real issue is to ensure that air doesn't leak around the window and/or rain. I leave the unit in the window year round. We live in Texas so it gets plenty of use. I have central air, but now that my kids are gone, we turn up the air at night and just run the window unit for sleeping. The unit isn't too noisy; I like the white noise. My only complaint or issue is that while the filter removes easily for cleaning, you can't remove the front of the unit to clean the condenser. No matter how clean you keep the filter, some buildup occurs on the condenser. But short of that, it's an excellent unit for the price for a medium room, especially a bed room.

Either Too Cold or Too Hot!
Pros:

- It's a strong unit.

- Quiet.

- Has good features such as Humidity Control and a Remote Control.

Cons:

- The thermostat is driving us crazy! It either stays on too long, or stays off too long. Sometimes it keeps going On & Off quickly. Either Too Cold or Too Hot!! Constantly needs adjusting. Changing the direction of the air doesn't make a difference.

- When turning it on for the first time in the day, it emits a VERY Strong, Toxic like, plastic or glue smell for a few seconds. If you're standing in front of it you'd think you're gonna faint. We've had it for a few weeks and it still doesn't go away.

Cooling a large bedroom. I find it plenty quiet on low setting, although you tend to hear the compressor kicking on and off. The only issue we have is that the air stream is so concentrated that if you walk through it you feel a cold blast of air that can give you a pretty good chill when you get up out of bed...even though the rest of the room is just a comfortable 70 degrees.

We turned the vanes toward the wall as much as possible to avoid the draft, but it still gets us if we get within 6 feet or so.

All in all we are quite satisfied with it. It seems to be built much better than the GE version we looked at.
