Comment:
This is the second full summer that I've used my unit. I'm a pretty good do-it-yourself person. I found the installation fairly easy. The real issue is to ensure that air doesn't leak around the window and/or rain. I leave the unit in the window year round. We live in Texas so it gets plenty of use. I have central air, but now that my kids are gone, we turn up the air at night and just run the window unit for sleeping. The unit isn't too noisy; I like the white noise. My only complaint or issue is that while the filter removes easily for cleaning, you can't remove the front of the unit to clean the condenser. No matter how clean you keep the filter, some buildup occurs on the condenser. But short of that, it's an excellent unit for the price for a medium room, especially a bed room.

Pros:

- It's a strong unit.

- Quiet.

- Has good features such as Humidity Control and a Remote Control.

Cons:

- The thermostat is driving us crazy! It either stays on too long, or stays off too long. Sometimes it keeps going On & Off quickly. Either Too Cold or Too Hot!! Constantly needs adjusting. Changing the direction of the air doesn't make a difference.

- When turning it on for the first time in the day, it emits a VERY Strong, Toxic like, plastic or glue smell for a few seconds. If you're standing in front of it you'd think you're gonna faint. We've had it for a few weeks and it still doesn't go away.

Cooling a large bedroom. I find it plenty quiet on low setting, although you tend to hear the compressor kicking on and off. The only issue we have is that the air stream is so concentrated that if you walk through it you feel a cold blast of air that can give you a pretty good chill when you get up out of bed...even though the rest of the room is just a comfortable 70 degrees.

We turned the vanes toward the wall as much as possible to avoid the draft, but it still gets us if we get within 6 feet or so.

All in all we are quite satisfied with it. It seems to be built much better than the GE version we looked at.
