Comment:
With so many windows and the temperature hovering at 110, the central air in my office couldn't cut it. The landlord wouldn't do anything about it so I took matters into my own hands and used them to buy and install this in my small window. It fit perfectly, was easy to install, and lightweight.

Since I am a counselor, noise was my biggest worry and I have to say it is too loud for soft conversations that happen in my office. But I don't know if any others would be much lower. I like having the remote to adjust it and it can still keep things cool on the low setting.

Maybe twice the money would get me a quieter one, but this works, and I can cope with the noise. I don't think it is the best built AC on the market, but for me, it is just fine. And I could afford it.

Comment:
Based on C.R. recommendation, bought the unit at Costco and installed it in a snap, thinking how noisy could it really be? Well, it's like having a small jet engine in the room. Nonetheless, it cooled really well - in fact, better than I expected and I was getting used to the noise. Then 6 weeks in, the condenser blew. 6 weeks! Costco will replace it with no problem. Wondering, however, do I want to chance it again and, hot as I am, it's really quiet without it. Might spring for a Friedrich this time.
