Reasonably effective but too noisy

It works! That's the best thing about this model. We have used two the last two years and I am in the market for better ones. This model is a bit tricky to refill due to the weird shape of the tank; it also is too loud--my main objection--so we are looking for a quieter model. Also the filters are a bit pricey; however, I found that when the filter was pretty far gone, you could turn it upside down and get another few weeks out of it.

I'm no longer a fan of Holmes. This is the first of two products I've purchased in the past and I haven't been satisfied with either. This particular model requires constant refilling, which is strange because it doesn't seem to put very much moisture in my 150 sq. foot bedroom. The tank is also oddly shaped and quite tall, so you'll need a deep sink to refill it. It does make whie noise, however, so it was nice to fall asleep to. Otherwise it's a cheap plastic product, like most of their products, and doesn't seem to have much thought put into the design.

I've owned two models of Holmes table-top ultrasonic humidifiers (not this one in particular because they keep changing their model numbers) and ALL of them would stop producing the mist upon refilling if the unit ever ran dry. I returned FOUR of them to Sears and was given a new one each time, but they still would permanently stop misting if they every ran dry. Occasionally they would restart but rarely. I wrote to Holmes twice about this, since I was costing them money! But they never answered! I recommend getting a different brand of cold mist humidifier.
