Comment:
Owned this Leyden pellet stove since Feb 2012. The Igniter burned out at the beginning of 2014-2015 winter season so less than two full seasons of use but stove is past warranty (naturally).A new igniter is pretty expensive for something that may have to be replaced every two years ~120.00). But the worst part is the procedure to replace it. Stove is not at all light (much heavier than a pellet stove needs to be i think given the heat comes from blowers and not stove heat radiance) and you have to remove the entire firebox parts plus work through the back of the device as well necessitating moving the stove (so the heavy part plays in big here). Additionally it is difficult to work around the auger and blower components to get at the back side of the igniter. Big hands a problem.

The procedure is relatively straight forward but difficult to execute due to design. Calling out home service would only make this more prohibitively expensive.

This is my first pellet stove so i can't compare this to others but this whole process has been hugely frustrating. I bought this mainly since it was American made with decent reviews but no one mentioned this.

Also - stove needs cleaning after each bag of pellets. Little ash collects in ash pan (a good thing i suppose since it is small) - it mostly just collects around pellet pot, behind walls, in exhaust vents, on heat tubes etc... basically everywhere but the ash pan.

Disappointing.

Comment:
Mine is a wood stove. I found that when I fire stove up and pre heat before closing bypass it works very well. Because it is wood it needs to be maintained and Dry wood is a must. I do not have access to hard wood of any degree. so I need to load large chucks of fir at night to burn the night. Because of this I wish I had bought a bigger model. I have owned many wood and pellet stoves. The auger was always an issue with all Pellet stoves I owned. Wood heat is not for everyone. But we have had ours for 3 years with no problems.

Replaced combustor 3 times.
All firebrick replaced already and needs replacing again.
Top replaced once due to cracking.
Rear guard that holds rear firebrick over combustor has 2 of the 3 bolts that hold it in place busted off.
Rear bypass damper has been replaced and the entire unit needs replacing again.
They say don't spare any expense when purchasing a wood stove or wood pellet stove so my wife and I didn't. We bought the Lopi Leyden, what a waste of money. I think ive been hoodwinked.
