Primary use of the blender is to make drinks/smoothies. And it does a very good job at that. I have had no problems with using that are the fault of the machine. I have had two instances, in about 40 uses, that I allowed the pre-mixture to stand too long in the pitcher with ice -- the whole thing froze together -one jab with wooden spoon handle fixed that. The second was close to being the same issue the upper half of the ingredient froze and would not drop into blade -- same solution. It takes about 30 seconds to make smoothie with ice and frozen fruit. The noise level is acceptable it is = loud speech when crushing ice & frozen fruit. Fairly quite when mixing without frozen ingredients. I get about 18 ounces of smoothie at one mix (2.5 8oz glasses). Left pitcher in fridge -- had no problem rinsing it out with warm water. I recommend not using the dishwasher other for the glass pitcher and not on heated drying. The chopper accessory work well chopping/slicing veggies - its for low volumes (individual size portions). I researched all the other blenders and did a $ value comparison, also read about 200 review on all the top blenders -3 biggest complaints in those reviews: NOISE level too high on the >$100 machines; to hard to clean after use, plastic pitcher. This HB blender does not share those complaints from me.
