Comment:
I got this as a gift for Christmas 2013. I love to work out every morning and I make a shake/smoothie and drink it on my way to the gym. I was (initially) thrilled to have this blender. By March, 2014 it did not work. I sent two messages on the Ninja website, noting the problem/issue. I never heard anything. I am currently shopping for a new blender. I would NOT even consider a Ninja!

Comment:
My cheap blender was better - the Ninja sounds like a jackhammer and I still have chunks of food floating. The cover is weird, because it locks and it will not turn on if you don't have the lock on properly - it also it hard to get off, so if you want to add something, it gets irritating.

Bottom Line
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Makes An Icy Drink
Comment:
If you make smoothies with ice - do not buy this machine. If you make smoothies with just fruit, etc., it may be ok, but I didn't try that. I use frozen fruit, ice and water.

It turns out an icy drink with small chunks of ice still in it - NOT a smoothie. I wish I'd read actual people's reviews before buying. The Farberware digital (with travel cup, model 103742) and a real glass pitcher I exchanged it for (about $40) at WalMart seems to be great . Farberware doesn't seem to be reviewed here. This blender makes great smoothies with 3 speeds/cycles - just press medium and it has it's own slow/fast cycle that turns out a perfectly smooth smoothie. I've been making a full pitcher full every day for over a month.

I wish CR would check the big box stores and make sure to review products where a lot of us shop for small appliances.

I also wish that when they get a low/average rating from real users on a product they rated so highly - they'd make mention of it on the actual ratings - or change their rating.
