Easy To Clean
This is my third Vitamix. I bought one decades ago (all metal!) and then sold it to a friend to buy a newer one. Somehow it got lost in a huge move, so I bought this from a Sam's Roadshow. My only regret is not buying several more to give as wedding gifts to my kids. They price went up $100 after I bought it.

My daughter (a ballet dancer who needs tons of high protein, low cal smoothies) uses it daily. I use it to create a veggie puree which I mix with hamburger meat to create a veggie/meat burger. I don't eat meat, but several in my family do, and I like them to get hidden veggies which they won't eat otherwise. For soups, I pulverize onions for use in soups because my family doesn't like onions, and I sneak 'em into the soup that way.

I also make an incredibly healthy cheesecake with nonfat cream cheese, egg whites, and a bit of sugar. The Vitamix blends it to the perfect consistency. The topping (instead of sour cream) is non-fat cottage cheese. Other blenders didn't pulverize it enough and there were little bits of cottage cheese left. The Vitamix works wonders.

I probably use the Vitamix for 10% of what it *could* be used for, so if you get one be sure to read the recipes. And google more recipes for it. There are tons. While you're at it, google the price for used Vitamixes--they hold their value.

By the way, cleaning is very easy. Even after making liquid onions, just put hot water and a touch of soup in the unit. Put it on the stand and turn it on. Super clean with no onion smell!

The only thing I don't care for is the design of the high/variable switch. There is a separate on/off toggle. If you have it on variable, and you turn it all the way down, your brain thinks it should go off (because we turn things like volumes down and then off). Instead, it's still on because you have to turn the toggle off. I'm probably not making any sense.

That's minor, and you get used to it.
How long have you owned it:
More than six months
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
