About - Cuisinart Crystal SCC-1000 Limited Edition Perfec Temp

The Cuisinart Crystal SCC-1000 Limited Edition Perfec Temp is part of the coffee maker test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, drip coffee maker models like the Crystal SCC-1000 Limited Edition Perfec Temp are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Brew performance:
The ability to reach 195° to 205° F for five or six minutes, the industry standard for optimal brewing.

Convenience:
Reflects ease of filling the reservoir, placing the filter, gauging the amount of coffee remaining, and cleaning up. It also reflects how clear we judged the controls.

Carafe handling:
Covers handle comfort, tendency to drip while pouring, balance of a full carafe, and how easy it was to empty the last liquid. Models with no score here brew into single-serve cups or are self-serve models. The latter hold the coffee in a tank; you fill your cup by pressing it against the dispenser lever.

Cons

Comment:
Used everyday; made coffee fine but after about 2 years water began to appear on the counter near the pot; it took a while to realize after it was filled and programmed for the next morning, during the night about 1/4 cup of water would leak from it. Also, the spings on the lid broke after 2 years; it is now 3 years old and beyond warranty. Not sure I would buy it again

Good Coffee, poor design

Large Pot

Cons
Fragile Spring Loaded Lid
Lid Parts Break Off
Poor Design For Lid
Best Uses
Comment:
Makes good coffee but would do better with just a lid that is manually lifted. Whole spring mechanism is a disaster for what could have been a good coffee maker.

Comment:
We made the decision to get this Crystal model rather than its more spartan sister which is rated the same. Waste of money. Our digital display stopped working and, of course, that means you can not use the coffee maker.Cost me $10 to replace (with the more spartan model) and I was responsible to ship the defective maker back at my expense.

Bottom Line
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
