About - Hamilton Beach Stay or Go 45237R

The Hamilton Beach Stay or Go 45237R is part of the coffee maker test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, drip coffee maker models like the Stay or Go 45237R are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Brew performance:
The ability to reach 195° to 205° F for five or six minutes, the industry standard for optimal brewing.

Reflects ease of filling the reservoir, placing the filter, gauging the amount of coffee remaining, and cleaning up. It also reflects how clear we judged the controls.

Carafe handling:
Covers handle comfort, tendency to drip while pouring, balance of a full carafe, and how easy it was to empty the last liquid. Models with no score here brew into single-serve cups or are self-serve models. The latter hold the coffee in a tank; you fill your cup by pressing it against the dispenser lever.

Great coffee but carafe dribbles
Best Uses
I bought one 4 years ago and noticed that if you poured quickly coffee would run down the carafe and spill on counter. Then 2 weeks in the handle on the carafe broke loose (adhesive didn't take) so took it back and got a new one. The spout has the same problem. So I pour slowly, my wife pours over the sink and my kids hate it and bought me a new one. Everything is great about it except the dribble. In may case x2 it was the spout design not the lid that dribbles.

Biggest dribble cup ever
Brews Quickly
Coffee Doesn't Stay Hot
Best Uses
Biggest dribble cup ever. Cannot pour without dripping. Cannot pour water from container to maker because lid does not open all the way. Pot does not keep coffee hot for beans (pun intended). Mugs are completely useless. Haven't bought a replacement yet, but there has to be something better.
How long have you owned it:
Three-to-six months
Bottom Line
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Versitile and Easy
Brews Quickly
Easy To Clean
Easy To Use
Large Pot
Multiple Settings
Ugly Design
Best Uses
One Or Two Cups
I saw reports that this coffee maker will drip. I haven't found that with either the small container or the larger pot. Maybe they've fixed it? I like all the features on this brewer. Makes great iced coffee too. I mainly use it for 1 or 2 cups in the morning. But I don't use the small container for drinking, there's better stuff out there to keep it hot. At home I drink it immediately as it's not like the big pot that seals up better. Using a hot mug you retain the heat and get the aroma. I started using paper filters as they're so abundant, cheap and there's absolutely no grounds. No more broken carafes to replace. That's was becoming a habit. Too jittery?
