About - Bunn STX

The Bunn STX is part of the coffeemaker test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, drip coffeemaker models like the STX are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Brew performance:
The ability to reach 195° to 205° F for five or six minutes, the industry standard for optimal brewing.

Convenience:
Reflects ease of filling the reservoir, placing the filter, gauging the amount of coffee remaining, and cleaning up. It also reflects how clear we judged the controls.

Carafe handling:
Covers handle comfort, tendency to drip while pouring, balance of a full carafe, and how easy it was to empty the last liquid. Models with no score here brew into single-serve cups or are brew-and-dispense models. The latter hold the coffee in a tank; you fill your cup by pressing it against the dispenser lever.

Comment:
Can't believe Bunn is rated so low. This is really just a smaller version of the Bunn machine that almost every restaurant on the planet uses. They're a great coffee maker and worth every penny. They don't break. Brews a fresh pot in the blink of an eye. Easy to clean. Coffee tastes great. One of these machines will outlast ten cheap ones that last only six months to a year. This is the best coffee maker I have ever owned. Don't let the rating fool you - go buy one!

Comment:
We have used the Bunn everyday for years. It is very EASY to use, easy to clean and makes a great cup of coffee. We have tried the Cuisinart models and Mr Coffee. They are a pain to disassemble everyday and clean. The filters in the Cuisinart models get dirty. We have always come back to the Bunn. They are high priced, but I guess you get what you pay for.

Very simple to operate.
Unless you need all the bells and whistles, this unit is for you. Has no hot plate because it doesn't need one. Coffee stays hot for hours.
I once made a fresh pot and had to go to work in a hurry without pouring myself s cup. 24 hours later when i went to make a pot, the coffe from the day before was still hot enough to drink.
