CR needs to take another look
Does it all well
Easy To Use
I think Consumer Reports completely missed the boat on this one. We bought the much higher rated Verismo model based on the CR recommendation. It did not get the coffee hot. If Starbucks sold coffee at that temperature in their stores, there would be only one Starbucks and the barista there would be very lonely. So, the other problem with the Verismo was you had to buy the very expensive Verismo pods with no other options.

The Bunn My Cafe MCU is all about options. First, it will work with the K-cups which gives you the ultimate in variety and convenience. It makes a K-cup taste great by sizing the coffee serving precisely to your taste, and by getting the coffee quite hot.

But that's just the beginning. The My Cafe MCU has a pod that you can load with any coffee you want. It's a little more trouble to clean, but again, the variety is unlimited and you can make a bigger cup of strong coffee. The MCU will also work with soft coffee pods, tea pods and regular tea bags, and it makes a delicious glass of instant ice tea. Also, outputs hot water for soup, etc.

CR's complaint about the first cup being slow is off base for most people. The water in the machine stays hot all the time. After six hours, to save energy, it drops back to 140 degrees. From that temperature, it takes one minute to get the water back to the brewing temperature of 200 degrees. After 26 hours, to save energy, it enters sleep mode. From that point, it takes two minutes to get it back up to brewing temperature. If you make coffee every day at approximately the same time, the longest you'll ever have to wait is a minute for the water to get hot.

This is not the perfect coffee maker, but compared to the Verismo 600 . . . well, there's really no comparison.
How long have you owned it:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
