Comment:
I had a portable induction unit and used it for quite sometime before deciding to get a full fledged cooktop...I replaced a gas unit that had a 15,000 BTU WOK burner...that burner, I miss, but have gotten a flat bottom wok to use...it is ok...Otherwise, this is the best of all worlds to cook with...no problem with heating the kitchen up, easily controlled heat (there is a learning curve, of course) and the ease of cleaning of a flat top, unlike the gas unit it replaced...So far so good...Bosch has a good reliability record, I am hoping my unit is one that lasts because it is expensive.

Bosch also has count down timers on all of its burners...something I have found most useful...example: set the timer for 15 minutes to boil eggs, not to worry, it shuts off in 15 minutes...I use the timers daily.

Comment:
I was nervous, hubby said buy the newest technology. he was willing to eat the restocking fee, so I did. I love it! some said it was noisy, it's not, exhuast hood makes more noise. boy is it FAST. responsive, easy to clean. detects pan size, can change factory settings, like, child lock always on, & many other features. had 4 qts. of potatoes boiling in 1.5 mins. don't know why, but it seems that pans are easier to clean, inside & out. cooked on gas for 34 yrs., electric 20yrs, never go back, faster than gas. i can't burn the feathers off a chicken or charr peppers, but they sell kitchen torches for that.
