I have used this cooktop 4 times and it already has scratches! If you look at it the wrong way a scratch develops. I had a GE range w/glass cooktop for 14 years and no scratches. DON'T BUY THIS. I'm trying to get my money back.

Comment:
I debated about buying this cooktop or an electrolux hybrid cooktop.I am disappointed in the GE Profile fast heating elements and the warming burner.I wish I would have put out the extra money for the electrolux.I cook often and should have gone with the new technology.Maybe in my next life?

Comment:
We found the operation of this unit excellent but were disappointed to see the edge chiped so easily. The chip lead to a crack across the top andmust be replace at ~$800 for just the part. My expectation is the cooktop should be strong enought to withstand the wear and tear of cooking. Our previous cook top was a Jenair glass top drop in range and it had a far superior glass top.

I would reccommend the stainless steel edge and not the plain glass edge.

Cleasing required a fair amount of elbow grease.
How long have you owned it:
Three-to-six months
Bottom Line
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

High Maintenance!!

Strength
No buttons, fast heat, attractive.
Weakness
A real pain to keep clean.
These cook tops should be made with some type of texture or grain on surface, rather than high-gloss glass.Every drop and spill shows and it requires cleaning after every use.Any harder spills must be scraped with razor blade. For a family, with children this would be impossible. When it starts looking bad, well dump it!
