Comment:
A medium or low-to-medium setting for a simmer is really just an intermittent on-off action. Over the years, each element lost all intermittent ranges; meaning it was either 100 percent on at the highest setting or off. Cost $80 to confirm the elements were each loosing their controls. My model # is 911.42702 which must be what builders get. Mine is white in color which created black stains after every single use.

Comment:
Bought this Kenmore cooktop in February 2012 based on Consumer Reports review. About a month later noticed the Hot Surface Indicator lights flickering when everything was off. [@] came and said there was a voltage leak and ordered a part. When the part came they said it was not the right part and that they do not make a part to fix this problem. I am returning this cooktop.

Owned this cooktop for 9 months,I had noticed the hot surface lights flickering when unit was off. Still under warranty,it took 5 repair visits to tell me that they can't fix it. I can order same one or use credit toward another. I'm still deciding.
