This is our second unit. The first one stopped working after 8 weeks of working properly. Then started the multiple visits (4) by Whirlpool repair man. After being out of a cooktop for 3 weeks, we returned the first unit at ike-a (it is the same model and it is made by Whirlpool) for an exchange. The second unit lasted 2 weeks before having the exact same problem appearing the exact same way (after using the big back burner for an hour, we turned it off to empty the pot, and it is when we turned it on again after a few minutes that we heard of poof). It has had the dreaded F47 error since and 2 of the burners flashed the error and the unit couldn't be reset. We are now getting a total refund from Whirlpool and will be looking for a different brand. Contrary to the bad service that some people seem to have gotten (internet blogs)we got an excellent and very courteous service by the different call center people we talked to and the different repair men that came home. It is really a design problem probably related to the underneath fans that are suppose to cool down the interior of the unit, but do stop working as soon as you turn the unit off. They would need to have an electrostatic fan that turns off only when the heat sensor is back to its normal temperature eventhough the unit is off. Hope Consumer Reports will review their Best Buy recommandation since reliability is not at all there on this model.

Comment:
This cook top is great when it works. Within the two years that I have had stove top, I have had two significant failures: control panel and wire harness replacement. While I do not normally purchase a protection plan for a cook top, I did after the unit failed during the first year. The biggest issue with this unit is that parts take 6 to 10 weeks to arrive even when trying to expedite with Whirlpool and the service plan provider.

Comment:
This stovetop works great while it works. Then, 6 months into our warranty, it simply stopped working. Whirlpool has sent 2 different companies to fix it and nobody has a clue on how to fix it.

THAT WAS 7 WEEKS AGO. AND WE STILL DO NOT HAVE A WORKING STOVETOP!

I've bought many different stovetops and they tend to last many years without any issues. And when there is an issue, the tech knows how to fix it.

Whirlpool makes them cheap and does not know how to fix the stuff they make!!! Unreal!

DON'T BUY ANY INDUCTION STOVE FROM WHIRLPOOL.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PIECE OF GARBAGE!!!!!
