About - Bosch 500 Series SHX65T55UC

The Bosch 500 Series SHX65T55UC is a dishwasher available from Bosch. The 500 Series SHX65T55UC typically costs between $844.00 - $854.00.

Consumer Reports recommends that you match the features on a model to the needs you have. Here's our take on some of the specifications and features that are commonly available on dishwasher models like the 500 Series SHX65T55UC.

Ample flatware slots:
Flatware baskets with lids provide individual slots for most of the utensils in our silverware load. Such lids prevent "nesting" and thus improve flatware cleaning. It is more time-consuming to load the cutlery into individual slots, though, so you can remove the lids if you prefer.

Adjustable upper rack:
Most models hold cups and glasses on the top rack, plates on the lower rack, and silverware in a basket. The ability to adjust the upper rack up or down an inch or so allows for more flexibility in loading items such as tall glasses.

Sensor:
A sensor adjusts water usage and cycle time to the amount of soil on the dishes. This should make a dishwasher use water more efficiently, but we've found this isn't always the case. Moreover, a sensor can increase a machine's running time.

The Ratings of Bosch 500 Series SHP65T55UC were applied to untested model Bosch 500 Series SHX65T55UC, which in our judgment is enough alike in its performance, features, and specs that our test results apply to both.

Comment:
Huge design flaws: does not dry dishes and smells; you have to open the door after the cycle complete indicator comes on to try to solve these issues.

We confirmed this by talking directly to Bosch. The unit is so well sealed that the steam that is generated during the dry cycle sticks to the inner metal walls...and then deposits on the dishes.

So, you must be at home and pay attention to when the cycles are done so you can open the door...this releases the steam to the kitchen.

Terrible design, for these models to be of use they need to redesign so that when the cycle is done the door pops open.

The sealed design also traps water in the bottom of the washer resulting in real bad smells. The only way to prevent that issue is to keep the door open all the time.

Bosch said they are proud of the sealed feature since it keeps out contaminants from the outside getting in to the clean dishes...their video even extolls it....but it results in a dishwasher that doesn't dry the dishes, requires you to be home when washing, causes smells and has a door that needs to be kept open.

Suggest ConsumerReports add a check and rating of the drying and smells to their reviews of dishwashers.

All good except after a day it smells badly, two days and it smells like rotting garbage. Per Bosch, it's designed to be run everyday to avoid the smell.. 365 days per year, so run it empty. No thank you. Design flaw

Comment:
I love my Bosch Dishwasher. I had many friends recommend their Bosch DW over the years. I really wanted a machine that was super quite and cleaned well. It does this and much more. The only way you know it is running is the little red light on the floor. I read some negative reviews on the consumer reports web site, but did not find the reviews to be accurate. I almost didn't buy the Bosch because of the reviews but so glad I did. I love the third rack. It couldn't clean better even baked on food and everything is dry. The racks are a little more difficult to load, but gets easier with practice. I would buy it again.
