About - GE GDF510PGD[ ]

The GE GDF510PGD[ ] is a dishwasher available from GE. The GDF510PGD[ ] typically costs between $429.00 - $5,998.50.

Consumer Reports recommends that you match the features on a model to the needs you have. Here's our take on some of the specifications and features that are commonly available on dishwasher models like the GDF510PGD[ ].

Ample flatware slots:
Flatware baskets with lids provide individual slots for most of the utensils in our silverware load. Such lids prevent "nesting" and thus improve flatware cleaning. It is more time-consuming to load the cutlery into individual slots, though, so you can remove the lids if you prefer.

A sensor adjusts water usage and cycle time to the amount of soil on the dishes. This should make a dishwasher use water more efficiently, but we've found this isn't always the case. Moreover, a sensor can increase a machine's running time.

Interior material:
A dishwasher's interior, which includes the inside of the door, could be made of stainless steel, plastic, or a combination of the two--such as a plastic door and stainless sides and bottom. Unlike a plastic interior, an all-stainless interior won't discolor, but it does increase the cost of a dishwasher by about $100.

Tested Model
The Ratings of GE GDF520PSD[SS] were applied to untested model GE GDF510PGD[ ], which in our judgment is enough alike in its performance, features, and specs that our test results apply to both.

About This Brand

This company, which touts its innovations and features, is the second-biggest dishwasher brand and has four lines: GE, Profile, Café, and Monogram. Prices range from about $250 for a basic GE model to $1,400 for a Monogram product. In 2006, GE introduced the Smart Dispense feature, which automatically dispenses detergent in the right amount for the load and is found on its high-end Profile, Café, and Monogram models. The Café line offers professional-style models at lower prices than the Monogram series.

Best Uses
Second time I used the dishwasher 1/2 of the gasket came apart from the machine - I pushed it back together. Used the machine a total of approximately 10 times and it no longer works. When I try pressing the cancel/drain button it just beeps. Feels like it is cheaply made when you push the drawer levels in and out. I purchased a cheaper model dishwasher because I wash my dishes by hand before I put them in a dishwasher. Waiting for repairman scheduled next week to see what is wrong with it.

GE Dishwasher GDF510-540 Not worth it
Long Cycle
Best Uses
General Purpose
The wash cycle on this dishwasher is ridiculously long. Absolutely do not like the delay button where you have to hold for 3 seconds on each setting before it clears the command. No one in a kitchen has time for that. And why would anyone want to delay the time for washing when the cycles are so ridiculously long. It came with the new home, but I would NEVER buy one again.
