About This Brand

This company, which touts its innovations and features, is the second-biggest dishwasher brand and has four lines: GE, Profile, Café, and Monogram. Prices range from about $250 for a basic GE model to $1,400 for a Monogram product. In 2006, GE introduced the Smart Dispense feature, which automatically dispenses detergent in the right amount for the load and is found on its high-end Profile, Café, and Monogram models. The Café line offers professional-style models at lower prices than the Monogram series.

Comment:
This dishwasher never performed well for us. We tried to make it work for a year and finally gave up and returned it. Hopefully we will have better luck with the Bosch model the CR recommends.

It never cleaned the dishes well for us. We had a service repair call to replace the top plastic panel where the buttons are and he cleaned the filter and tried to provide tips to help it clean better. But nothing worked. And the replacement panel cover came off the day after it was installed by the repairman.

Comment:
It is very quiet. It will not dry dishes or silverware, the silverware always has to be hand washed. When I open door after wash there is water all over everything. Not happy with it, would not buy again, or recommend.

Poor Design

2 Major Design Flaws

Comment:
After 2 months and one warranty repair, this dishwasher is going back. It has two major design flaws: First, the door latch is flimsy and not a firm-holding design; you must be very careful in loading the top rack or the door pops open when you close it. Second, the silverware baskets are on the front of the drawers, and there is a very tight tolerance for the previously-mentioned door latch issue-- but even worse is that if you load silverware in front of the soap dispenser, the dispenser door won't open during the wash cycle resulting in dirty dishes.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
