About - KitchenAid KUDS30IX[ ]

The KitchenAid KUDS30IX[ ] is a dishwasher available from KitchenAid. The KUDS30IX[ ] typically costs $800 .

Consumer Reports recommends that you match the features on a model to the needs you have. Here's our take on some of the specifications and features that are commonly available on dishwasher models like the KUDS30IX[ ].

Ample flatware slots:
Flatware baskets with lids provide individual slots for most of the utensils in our silverware load. Such lids prevent "nesting" and thus improve flatware cleaning. It is more time-consuming to load the cutlery into individual slots, though, so you can remove the lids if you prefer.

Adjustable upper rack:
Most models hold cups and glasses on the top rack, plates on the lower rack, and silverware in a basket. The ability to adjust the upper rack up or down an inch or so allows for more flexibility in loading items such as tall glasses.

Sensor:
A sensor adjusts water usage and cycle time to the amount of soil on the dishes. This should make a dishwasher use water more efficiently, but we found that wasn't always the case. Moreover, a sensor can increase a machine's running time.

The Ratings of KitchenAid KUDS30FX[SS] were applied to untested model KitchenAid KUDS30IX[ ], which in our judgment is enough alike in its performance, features, and specs that our test results apply to both.

Comment:
We are a two-person household and wait until the dishwasher is full to run it. After a series of problems with the control panel, including its replacement, I began to notice a faint electrical smell that could never be traced. Two days ago, thanks to a smoke detector, I was alerted to electrical smoke pouring out of the dishwasher and a blackened dishwasher door panel. Although I was satisfied with the dishwasher's cleaning ability, I found its design flaws regarding electrical components, including the ridiculously over-sensitive front panel, to be downright dangerous. So after just 2.5 years we are searching for a new dishwasher. Just a week prior, our same-age KitchenAid coffeemaker stopped working as well. So that's it; we will never again buy KitchenAid. The good news? Our smoke detectors work!

Comment:
Different plastic parts began cracking after 3 years....the top rack adjustor attached to the roller wheels cracked and fell off and the piece that prevents the top rack from coming out too far when pulling the rack out also cracked and fell off. All the cracks were in the gray plastic pieces. Looking online apparently quite a few others have had same problem too. Some feel it is because the plastic becomes brittle from the heat. Problem...even though mine is 3-4 years old, when looking for a new dishwasher, the same plastic pieces are in the new brands too!

Comment:
Plastic axles holding wheels of upper tray fractured after 2 years of use. Note: this is a common problem that costs $200 to repair as each of two roller housings cost $49 plus service. Apparently the plastic becomes brittle with use leading to failure. The tops of the silverware trays are flimsy. To keep the lids in place you need to tie them down with plastic straps.
