About - KitchenAid KUDS30IX[ ]

The KitchenAid KUDS30IX[ ] is a dishwasher available from KitchenAid. The KUDS30IX[ ] typically costs $800 .

Consumer Reports recommends that you match the features on a model to the needs you have. Here's our take on some of the specifications and features that are commonly available on dishwasher models like the KUDS30IX[ ].

Ample flatware slots:
Flatware baskets with lids provide individual slots for most of the utensils in our silverware load. Such lids prevent "nesting" and thus improve flatware cleaning. It is more time-consuming to load the cutlery into individual slots, though, so you can remove the lids if you prefer.

Adjustable upper rack:
Most models hold cups and glasses on the top rack, plates on the lower rack, and silverware in a basket. The ability to adjust the upper rack up or down an inch or so allows for more flexibility in loading items such as tall glasses.

A sensor adjusts water usage and cycle time to the amount of soil on the dishes. This should make a dishwasher use water more efficiently, but we found that wasn't always the case. Moreover, a sensor can increase a machine's running time.

General Purpose
Machine cleans well if dishes are rinsed properly. Is medium in noise department. Two main issues with machine are the control board which has gone out several times and the day to day sensitivity of the control buttons. Machine is in front of prep area, Anytime someone brushes up against controls, the machine turns on or even worse, turns the running machine off. The other issue is the constant breaking of the upper rack rollers. Replacement part is inexpensive, but a pain to order and have put in coupled with the inconvenience of not having a machine during this timeframe.
KitchenAide needs to step it up on the quality and reliability side.
Rollers just went out again. We are looking to replace this machine with a new one and move this one to our outdoor kitchen where it will be used less. We will not be buying another kitcheAide dishwasher though.

We run the dishwasher daily. After two years, the door leaked. After 2 years and 9 months, the wheels broke off the top rack. After 2 years and 10 months, the control panel needed replacing. Though the board is covered under warranty, only a certified repairman could provide the part for free -- and of course the visit would cost at least $100 -- two weeks from now. Total cost of parts to date: $250. Note that there are good videos and photos out there that show how to install these parts yourself.

I like the quietness, am able to move the rack so I can do larger glasses. I do not like the cheapness of the upper rack. Paying that kind of money, should stay together better. Even if the warranty covers the replacement part, still don't want to have to call them out every few weeks.
