This dishwasher is a disappointment. We got it as an upgrade when we purchased appliances for our kitchen in Feb. 2014 and we didn't pick it up for about 8 months after our purchase date, as we were in the middle of the kitchen renovation until then. It has been installed for about a month now. The unit is very quiet, which is its best feature. We find the loading awkward and it's hard to fit a lot of dishes in, especially bowls. The plates are too close to each other unless you skip a slot. We like the wine glass holder feature. We took out the cutlery sorter because our cutlery handles are too thick for the slots. The Storm Wash feature works well so far. However, bits of food get left on the door because there is a Samsung plastic panel on the top rack which collects food particles behind it on the door. Many times, the soap dispenser doesn't empty, especially if you have a cutting board or bowl near the door end of the rack. The dispenser door opens but the soap stays there throughout the entire cycle. We've decided not to try and put cutting boards into the unit, and to wash them by hand instead. The unit doesn't dry things very well, and we have used Jet Dry as suggested in other reviews. We are wondering if we were upgraded when we bought it because they were perhaps trying to get rid of a model that doesn't work very well.

This is the best dishwasher we have ever owned after we got the correct information on how to use it. First we had problems with the drying. Bottom line you have to use a rinse agent, if you don't dishes will be wet. We tried a couple and found Jet-Dry turbo works the best. When the cycle is done dishes are completely dry. Next thing was we to had the LE lights flashing, called Samsung and they got somebody out in 2 days. Samsung had told him it was the water temp sensor that was bad. He explained to me that Samsung has more sensors in their dishwashers that any other manufacturer as this causes a lot of the problems. He told us the real cause of the problems was using the detergent in the gel packs. The gel does not disolve all the way and the film gets wrapped around the sensors. He found film around 2 of the sensors in the machine. We switched to the powdered tablets and have not had a problem since. Samsung does not tell you to use the tablets, just try it and find out for yourself. Bottom line is if you follow the instructions in the manual and use the tablets instead of the gel packs your dishwasher will outperform most of the higher dollar dishwashers.

So.. Here you are - looking at CR for your next dishwasher.... as am I.!! I've zeroed in on a few, and can't wait to go look for a deal..

But.. before I forget the sour taste of disappointment in my Samsung dishwasher, I am going to write a review.

First, I got it for a decent price from the appliance orphanage in the front of Home Depot, Dec. 2013. I was stoked. Totally in awe of the stainless and overall sleek design that would fit our kitchen so perfectly. I forgot to look up anything remotely data oriented on it using the convenient smartphone in my pocket. The beauty overloaded my circuits. (I've made the same mistake with a few women in my past... ..but I digress...)

The honeymoon was over quickly... Thanks to the dreaded DRAIN ERROR.. If I could put those words into the Gangnam Style song, I'd have a hit record among Samsung dishwasher owners. It started ~6 months into ownership, and a phone call to Samsung resulted in.. ..an insult to my intelligence.. Seriously. They told me to make sure I was pushing the buttons right.. Washing the dishes in the correct modes.. Hmmm... Maybe I DID do something wrong.. Maybe not running it on alternating cycles, with or without SANITIZE on would make it more reliable.... Maybe not.

Removing the lower wash bar, and sump cover to access the little ECS sensor was the key. Wipe the film off of it, and the dishwasher runs for 3 or 4 cycles before you gotta do it again.. Samsung, despite the fact that the replacement part is only $33 - I'm not even gonna try, because something tells me you haven't bothered trying to improve it. I'm going to wipe the sensor clean, put an ad on Craigslist, and hope to GOD a Samsung appliance pro buys this thing on the cheap... ..and thinks he got the only used DW80 that runs without a drain error..

..for a few days anyway....
