Installed this unit about seven years ago. Worked well until the motor suddenly, without warning the motor stopped working. Basket and everything turns freely. Nothing but humming sound. Motor DEAD. It's a simple machine that should last well over seven years..

Bought this after old disposer rusted out and began to leak water under the sink. Despite the name compact this is plenty big enough...in fact, it is larger than the one it replaced. It has a nicely designed removable splash guard that manufacturer claims further reduces noise. It certainly is much quieter than previous disposer. Not sure I would want a disposer that makes less noise as it would be easy to forget it is on.
