The Waste King Legend 8000 is part of the garbage disposer test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, garbage disposer models like the Legend 8000 are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.


Speed:
We judged each model's speed of grinding beef bones and vegetable scraps. The speed of grind was based on the amount of bone that was ground in one minute of operation.

Fineness:
We judged each model's fineness of grinding beef bones and vegetable scraps. The fineness of grind was based on the distribution of particle size after all bones were ground to completion.

Vegetable scraps:
For vegetable scraps, whole celery stalks and whole potatoes were used.

One tough bird. I've used Waste King units for more than 40 years, they last a long time.I use them in rental units and 1 HP units simply don't break. If you have rental units, install these units instead of really cheap 1/3 hp units and you'll save money and time in the long run.

What can you say about a garbage disposer? I bought this one on Consumer Reports recommendation. Paid less for it than they had listed after researching it online. It was on par with other disposer installations according to my husband. My favorite thing is how quiet it is. I have to really listen to hear it. It has chewed up everything that we have fed it so far with no complaints or troubles.
