Comment:
This was selected based on CR's ratings and professionally installed in new home. It looks very rugged in the box -shiny steel and very heavy. It doesn't like things like small chicken bones or the neck of a banana peel. Vibrates so badly I had to turn if off to avoid damaging the sink. Previously owned Sears unit for 15 years with no problems. I'm going to eat the cost of this unit, and I'm headed back to Sears. What happened, CR?...

Comment:
I purchased this unit after reading about it on CR and finding it well priced online. The installation to my sink which did not have a disposal previously was very easy. Hooking up the rest of the plumbing was much more difficult and I was forced to remove everything under my sinks and redo it. The disposal unit hangs quite a distance below the sink and the pipe that your plumbing connects to makes a 90 degree turn downward after leaving the disposal. This forced all of my plumbing much lower than it was originally designed for and it was a challenge to mininmize vertical drop. Be aware that if your plumbing enters the back of your cabinet too high, your sink waste water may need to flow uphill to drain. This can be problematic with ground up food waste.

Other than that, the disposal works well. Seems to grind up food very efficiently and is not too loud. I am very happy with it.

I have the remote switch which separated after 2 years.
The machine is AWESOME, just don't drop the wrong thing in it or its GONE or mutilated if you can catch it. Toss in a slice of lime or orange peel to freshen it up.
I have a septic system and no problems there.
