About - Kenmore 98053

The Kenmore 98053 is part of the kitchen range test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, electric range models like the 98053 are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Cooktop high:
This reflects how quickly the most powerful element could raise a 6-liter (6 1/3 quart) pot of water from room temperature to a near boil.

Cooktop low:
This reflects the ability of the lowest power element to melt and hold chocolate without scorching it. We also set the most powerful element to its lowest setting to test its ability to hold a large pot of tomato sauce below a boil.

Baking:
This reflects the evenness of cookies and cakes in multi-rack baking tests.

Best Uses
Comment:
I used both cook top and ovens. The ovens worked great, but the entire service on the cooktop, including trim got so hot that I was easily burned. The burners take a very long time to cool down. 1 vent for both ovens is located in the left hand corner under the cook top knobs and you can burn yourself reaching for the dial. I will be returning and looking for two vents for the ovens as well as a cook top service that does not get so hot!

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
