About - Whirlpool RF263LXTQ

The Whirlpool RF263LXTQ is part of the kitchen range test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, electric range models like the RF263LXTQ are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Cooktop high:
This reflects how quickly the most powerful element could raise a 6-liter (6 1/3 quart) pot of water from room temperature to a near boil.

Cooktop low:
This reflects how well the lowest-powered element or burner kept a low temperature as for melting chocolate. We also set the most powerful element to its lowest setting to test its ability to hold a large pot of tomato sauce below a boil.

Baking:
This reflects the evenness of cookies and cakes in multi-rack baking tests.

Comment:
Daily use, cook 2-3+ meals a day on range and in oven for family of 5. Sudden hot electrical smell while baking dinner last night, followed by smoke and spark coming from wall plug then breaker tripped. No prior issues other than overheating oven when preset(gets 20+ degrees hotter than set).<br />Window hard to clean.
