About - Maytag MGR8674AS

The Maytag MGR8674AS is part of the kitchen range test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, gas range models like the MGR8674AS are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Cooktop high:
This reflects how quickly the most powerful burner could raise a 6-liter (6 1/3-quart) pot of water from room temperature to a near boil.

Cooktop low:
This reflects the gentlest burner's ability to melt and hold chocolate without scorching it. We also set the most powerful burner to its lowest flame to test its ability to hold a large pot of tomato sauce below a boil.

Baking:
This reflects the evenness of cookies and cakes in multi-rack baking tests.

Comment:
We have had to have four service calls and two separate stoves delivered. Both with the same problem. When you start the oven the smell of gas fills not only the kitchen but the entire house. And that is if you are lucky enough for it to start and actually light. Calling today to return it entirely and demand our money back.
How long have you owned it:
Three-to-six months
Bottom Line
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Comment:
Where to begin... designed to seem like the oven heats quickly, but when the bell goes off to say the oven is at temp after 10 minutes or so, you're still at least 100+ degrees from the temperature you set. Tack on another 10-15 minutes to actually reach the temp.

The simmer burner ONLY does simmer. So consider this a three-burner stove. Very limiting.

Finally, we've had two service calls since buying this thing.
How long have you owned it:
More than six months
Bottom Line
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
