The GE JES2051SN[SS] is part of the microwave oven
test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, countertop microwave oven
models like the JES2051SN[SS] are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.
This reflects how evenly a model reheated a dish of cold mashed potatoes.
This is based on how well the automatic-defrost program defrosted one pound of frozen ground chuck.
Speed of heating:
This score is based on the temperature rise of water heated in the microwave.

Watts This is the manufacturer's figure of the microwave power output. In general, the more watts an oven offers, the greater its cooking power-and the faster your food will be cooked. That said, differences in claimed wattage of 100 watts or less are unlikely to result in significant differences in performance.

Convection mode A few microwaves include a convection oven feature, which has a heating element and a fan that distributes heat. In convection mode, you can set the oven temperature as you would in a traditional oven to bake or roast items.
Sensor Controls the cooking and reheating time automatically. It shuts off an oven when it determines (usually by sensing steam) that food is hot enough.
Stainless/SS-look option Stainless-steel is stylish, but it shows fingerprints. Another option: a vinyl-covered metal finish that gives you a stainless-steel look but resists smudging.
I have this same model in black. Pretty simple to use, even without the manual. Cooks the frozen veggies just perfect using the vegetable button. Sometimes the reheat feature warms the food a little too hot, but otherwise it's good. Like the 30 second button, too, for warming up my coffee. Was a little confused at first with the numeric keypad, as each button signifies that number of minutes, but there is a time cook button to turn that feature off. I also love the curved back wall for easy cleaning. This microwave has ample power and fits nicely in the space we had made for it above our pantry in our remodeled kitchen and there is plenty of room for a 9x13 dish. I did a lot of research on microwaves and I'm very happy with my choice.

I have had to return 2 of these identical microwave ovens in a month. The first just quit working after 7 days although the clock still worked. I took it back for a relacement and the second one continued to work but after 10 days the bulb blew. I wouldn't mind if it was easy to change as I would have probably done that but you have to take the whole thing apart to change the bulb and that would probably void the warrant. I'm returning it for a refund and will not buy another GE made in China.

Unreliable costly to repair
Previous microwave was 20 years old and stopped working. I was willing to pay more thinking I would get a better built unit. Died at the end of the warranty and the service is almost imposible to use as they will only come to your house during business hours and the cost of just finding out the cost of the repair is $90 plus a day off work and the cost of parts is super high. Would have been glad to take it in but not an option.
