About This Brand

Whirlpool's over-the-range microwaves feature what the company calls the Velos design, a venting system that removes smoke better than any other over-the-range model we've tested. The company also sells convection and nonconvection microwaves, some with speed-cooking capability. The ovens are sold at most major retailers and cost $300 to $800.

Called Whirlpool for repair service. They sent local authorized repair man who spend 5 minutes and exposed but never touched the door switches. Told us that he had to replace switches at a cost of $200 and that he was amazed that Whirlpool recommended that we try to even service the Microwave. He had never heard of the light and Turntable stopping intermittently and he offered no support or help. He told us to buy a new Microwave. After paying the AUTHORIZED repair man $60 for 5 minute service, I engaged the switches in 30 seconds myself. NEVER AGAIN. BUY THE CHEAPEST MICROWAVE AVAILABLE FROM GE. If you cannot fix the Microwave yourself, throw it in the TRASH CAN and buy the cheapest one available if it is out of WARRANTY.

Comment:
The interior bulb burned out in little over a year. The turntable will not turn without a functioning bulb. When we replaced the bulb, we found that the FACTORY bulb had been manually GLUED into place because of POOR MANUFACTURING QUALITY. A replacement bulb works intermittently. The bulb now is not working and the turn table will not turn. This is the last WHIRLPOOL MICROWAVE that I will ever buy. Thanks to WHIRLPOOL for SHIPPING THE UNIT with a one time USE LIGHT BULB that has to be GLUED INTO PLACE. You saved one repair on a MICROWAVE and lost a CUSTOMER FOR LIFE. DO NOT BUY.

I'm shopping for a new OTC since this one that we got back in January has been the WORSE OTC we've ever had and dealing with Whirlpool Customer Service has just been a horrible, horrible experience! This model is LOUD and the night light feature comes on HIGH and you have to manually adjust it to the lower light setting. And the BIGGEST Issue was the interior cavity was getting HOT just from the light being used. Whirlpool Diamond Factory Service told me the night light was a marketing feature and wasn't meant to be used overnight...um, it's a night light! Regardless, the interior cavity would burn your fingers with the underneath light being on for only 8 minutes! I was able to fry an egg because it was so hot without ever turning the microwave on! I even checked the one on [...] sales floor and it did the exact same thing. After 4 months fighting with Whirlpool they finally are allowing me to exchange it for a different model. Also, the pop corn function always burnt our pop corn and the fan sounded like a jet engine taking off! Very loud!I don't recommend this model to anyone.
