We got this microwave just under 2 years ago. It is nice looking, a bit bulky, but we were excited because we bought it with points (travel or CC, can't remember).<br />A few weeks ago it started acting funny, took forever to heat food. Next thing you know it wouldn't heat at all. The fan still works, lights are on, power level is 100%, but no heat. Warranty is over because it's been more than 1 year, we didn't opt for the extended warranty. I would not recommend this product. Called the service line for GE and they would come out for $99 to assess and then we would have to cover parts and labor. Gonna let it go and buy another brand.
How long have you owned it:
One-to-three months
Bottom Line
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Comment:
Four years ago we purchased and installed the previous version of this microwave. The stainless steel exterior for the vent over the door, overlays a thin polystyrene support piece, which holds the stainless steel in place. When the polystyrene begins to break, then the stainless steel front falls down over the door. We replaced the backing piece, only to have the same thing happen. Only when I hand crafted other brackets to hold it in place, did the surface SS front stay in place.
How long have you owned it:
More than six months
Bottom Line
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Magnetron went at less than 2 years.

Pros
Attractive Design
Cons
Unreliable
Best Uses
Defrosting
Popcorn
reheat coffee
Comment:
The magnetron died in less than two years and although it is under a 5 year warranty, the service call plus labor would have cost almost $225. This was moot, however, because a replacement magnetron wasn't available. Waiting now for GE Customer Relations to call me back about what will be done. Hoping a new microwave that is reliable.
How long have you owned it:
More than six months
Bottom Line
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
