About - KitchenAid KERS206XWH

The KitchenAid KERS206XWH is part of the range test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, electric smoothtop range models like the KERS206XWH are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Cooktop high:
This reflects how quickly the most powerful element could raise a 6-liter (6 1/3 quart) pot of water from room temperature to a near boil.

Cooktop low:
This reflects how well the lowest-powered element or burner kept a low temperature as for melting chocolate. We also set the most powerful element to its lowest setting to test its ability to hold a large pot of tomato sauce below a boil.

This reflects the evenness of cookies and cakes in multi-rack baking tests.

Make sure you buy a 15 yr warranty. You'll need it! We have the slide-in 30 smoothtop electric range. We've had the oven door glass replaced 7 times in 15 yrs., the electronic control unit, the blower, the door seals, the rear venting piece. Temperature probe broke after 6 years. And the insurer for the warranty would not renew our 5year warranty plan! That tells it all!(Daily use 3x per day for family of 5; entertaining every wknd).

Unreliable Performance

I just had to replace my Kitchenaid dishwasher because the control panel kept burning out (burned out at least three times over two years). I learned that many others have had this experience with their Kitchenaid/Whirlpool dishwashers. There have been many reports of fires from this defect. Whirlpool/Kitchenaid refuses to acknowledge the problem. Please see the following web site for more info: http://kitchenaidfire.com/. I highly recommend that you stay away from all Kitchenaid/Whirlpool applicance.
