About - Samsung NE597R0ABSR

The Samsung NE597R0ABSR is part of the range test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, electric smoothtop range models like the NE597R0ABSR are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Cooktop high:
This reflects how quickly the most powerful element could raise a 6-liter (6 1/3 quart) pot of water from room temperature to a near boil.

Cooktop low:
This reflects how well the lowest-powered element or burner kept a low temperature as for melting chocolate. We also set the most powerful element to its lowest setting to test its ability to hold a large pot of tomato sauce below a boil.

This reflects the evenness of cookies and cakes in multi-rack baking tests.

The decal ( the SAMSUNG name ) peels off easily, they should have engrave it since steam will get into the sticky letters...we're into a lot of cooking so for the past year it's been reliable ( knock on wood )...

Burning Food
Bought this as part of a 4 Samsung appliance package during a kitchen remodel.

After dealing with Samsung NO Customer Service we finally got a repair person out to look at it. The tech indicated that the functionality was not suited to us because it uses a time based temperature control to turn the burners on and off for cooking. Unfortunately, this causes the burning to continually raise the temperature of what you're cooking.
However, this explained why virtually everything we cooked was burning on the outside but not cooked inside.
Similarly, the oven does the same thing. So when your baking, say a meatloaf, it will be raw on the inside and well done on the outside...

Please note that Samsung Customer Support will run you through a process to try to discourage you from calling, blame you for the issue, or simple state that its functioning as designed which is a code word for its not covered under warranty!
The Samsung decal was crooked, so we asked about it and was told that they used to send replacements but now we would have to purchase a replacement decal. However, if we scraped the old one off it may void warranty.
Give me a break! a appliance in this price range should not have this many issues.

Can't Use Stove Top
This stove looks great but the stove top is difficult to keep clean, I have to wipe it down then clean it with stove cleaner then window cleaner to make it look good after every use. The bottom drawer is made very cheap, I was told that they stopped using bearings that is why it doesn't roll very well . (huge mistake for something so costly)
