About - Samsung NE597R0ABSR

The Samsung NE597R0ABSR is part of the range test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, electric smoothtop range models like the NE597R0ABSR are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Cooktop high:
This reflects how quickly the most powerful element could raise a 6-liter (6 1/3 quart) pot of water from room temperature to a near boil.

Cooktop low:
This reflects how well the lowest-powered element or burner kept a low temperature as for melting chocolate. We also set the most powerful element to its lowest setting to test its ability to hold a large pot of tomato sauce below a boil.

Baking:
This reflects the evenness of cookies and cakes in multi-rack baking tests.

The controller panel stopped working after only one week!!
Purchased it through Lowe's. Then I had to call third party repair company. They scheduled an appointment after 2 weeks.. Came, looked at the range and confirmed that the controller is bad. Then left, ordered the part and called me back to reschedule the repair. When the repair was due, they called and said they had ordered the wrong part, or that Samsung sent them the wrong part... At that point I called Lowe's and asked them to come and pick up their junk from my kitchen. They are scheduled to come tomorrow to pick it up...
I currently own 2 Samsung TVs and I am very pleased with them (6 years of usage) but after the event with the range I would NEVER recommend a Samsung range!!!!

Comment:
We use it for simple daily cooking for two people (relatively light use). The largest burner failed just around the 1 year warranty expiry, so labour for repair is automatically not covered. Getting a straight and reasonable answer from Samsung was a lost cause. They would have me pay a local service agent $125 just to come inspect it. Any repair labour would be extra, and there was no guaranty that the failed part would be covered by warranty. When I bought a replacement part myself and successfully replaced it, they would not reimbursed the cost of the part, which was supposed to be covered by the 5-year warranty. The product is pretty good IF it works reliably, but the so-called warranty service is abysmal. Think twice about buying similar product from Samsung if warranty could be an issue in the future.

The decal ( the SAMSUNG name ) peels off easily, they should have engrave it since steam will get into the sticky letters...we're into a lot of cooking so for the past year it's been reliable ( knock on wood )...
