Initially really liked this refrigerator. Sadly, I will have my new friend Ron the repairman over next week to install a new compressor. This will be his third visit in my first month of ownership. I tried to get the major retailer to replace my lemon but they refused as once I sign for it no returns are made unless the store manager takes mercy on you. The manufacturer hung up on me and I was not being remotely demanding or rude. I am resigned to the fact that I will be purchasing an extended warranty and will more than likely be seeing a lot more of Ron.

We're average homeowners. We bought this model four years ago for[$]. The freezer never worked properly. It ices up so badly that we have to defrost everything for 24-48 hours. Amana customer service phone tech was no help. Suggested we call a service tech for $100 just to visit. Will never buy another Amana product.
