About - Frigidaire Gallery FGHN2844L[P]

The Frigidaire Gallery FGHN2844L[P] is part of the refrigerator test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, bottom freezer refrigerator models like the Gallery FGHN2844L[P] are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Temperature performance:
This combines results of tests measuring the accuracy of initial temperature settings along with how well a model 1) kept optimum temperatures in the refrigerator and freezer at the same time; 2) kept temperatures even throughout each compartment; 3) kept temperatures constant despite changes in room temperatures; and 4) maintained set temperatures even with very high room temperatures.

Energy efficiency:
This reflects electricity consumption (based on our tests) per cubic foot of measured usable storage space. For example, two models with the same energy cost per year may have different energy efficiencies -- the unit with more storage space being more efficient.

Noise:
Noise level was measured when the compressor started up and during steady running. Subjective judgments by a panel of listeners supplemented our noise-meter readings.

Comment:
Bought the fridge as a Mother's Day present. Looked great, and was wonderful to organize my fridge. But it quickly developed a problem that I had seen others mention in their reviews. After 4-5 weeks since delivery, we noticed that milk didn't feel cold, so we put a thermometer inside. Temperature was set to 35 degrees on the door thermostat. Temperature was at 48 degrees in the doors, 46 in the back near where the cold air enters. This was on a 70 degree day. (Our kitchen is not air conditioned. Inside temperatures rose to 62 on an 80 degree day.)Called the store and was told to contact Frigidaire. The company sent out a repair crew 3 times, once to replace the cold air inlet tower gasket in the back of the refigerator compartment, and a 2nd time to replace the control board, 3rd to replace both. This was over a period of about a month. No good. Sent the unit back for a refund. I am an engineer with some tech savvy. I looked at the schematics and looked like the unit had a bad thermostat, since the fridge always reported that its temperature was at the setpoint. The control board didn't properly turn on the compressor, because it never knew the fridge was warm. But the repair technicians could not be convinced to replace the thermostat.

Comment:
Now that warranty has expired need 5th ice maker
seems they keep improving to last a week longer than last one. Temp off by about 5 degrees, items in doors feel warm and are warm if storing milk - won't have to worry about a cold shock to tongue or throat.
Wasted money - won't even make it to garage as one I replaced this with is 10 times better and it is in garage. Looking for new one
