About - Kenmore 7200[2]

The Kenmore 7200[2] is part of the refrigerator test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, bottom freezer refrigerator models like the 7200[2] are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Temperature performance:
This combines results of tests measuring the accuracy of initial temperature settings along with how well a model 1) kept optimum temperatures in the refrigerator and freezer at the same time; 2) kept temperatures even throughout each compartment; 3) kept temperatures constant despite changes in room temperatures; and 4) maintained set temperatures even with very high room temperatures.

Energy efficiency:
This reflects electricity consumption (based on our tests) per cubic foot of measured usable storage space. For example, two models with the same energy cost per year may have different energy efficiencies -- the unit with more storage space being more efficient.

Noise:
Noise level was measured when the compressor started up and during steady running. Subjective judgments by a panel of listeners supplemented our noise-meter readings.

Broke after 10 months. Condenser needs to be replaced. Sears took 4 days to get a repairman out to us, who says now it will be another 10 days to get the condenser and come back. Not happy with the product or the service.

Comment:
Used in a smallish kitchen for a family of three. Our first french door, bottom freezer model. We also moved the side x side that this replaced to the garage as a second. We're really enjoying the layout and storage capacity of this unit. Doors can be a little difficult to close and the ice-maker seems to be a little slow, even when in the accelerated mode. Other than that, all is positive. One reason we chose this model was for the internal water and ice dispensing. Not missing the door dispensers at all.

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

Comment:
This unit replaced three (3) other Kenmore's which were the 22.4 cu. ft. single door bottom freezer model. They all including this one had the same problem that the freezer does not defrost. Within a short time I had ice and frost all over the back wall and wire racks and it looked like it had snowed on the top ice drawer. The 7200 is not as bad as the other but still has the same problem. Be aware that both of these units are made for Kenmore by LG so the similar ones under the LG label may have the same defect. I bought these through [@] and the good news is that they have been great at trying to fix and in replacing with new boxes. The 7200 is going back and I'm going to try Whirlpool which seems to have a better rating and performance rating.
