About - Maytag MFF2258VE[W]

The Maytag MFF2258VE[W] is part of the refrigerator test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, bottom freezer refrigerator models like the MFF2258VE[W] are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Temperature performance:
This combines results of tests measuring the accuracy of initial temperature settings along with how well a model 1) kept optimum temperatures in the refrigerator and freezer at the same time; 2) kept temperatures even throughout each compartment; 3) kept temperatures constant despite changes in room temperatures; and 4) maintained set temperatures even with very high room temperatures.

Energy efficiency:
This reflects electricity consumption (based on our tests) per cubic foot of measured usable storage space. For example, two models with the same energy cost per year may have different energy efficiencies -- the unit with more storage space being more efficient.

Noise:
Noise level was measured when the compressor started up and during steady running. Subjective judgments by a panel of listeners supplemented our noise-meter readings.
About This Brand

One of the Whirlpool brands, Maytag is a major player in the bottom-freezer section of the market. The company was one of the first to introduce a French-door model with an external ice-and-water dispenser and a cabinet-depth model with an external dispenser.

Comment:
Do your research on this refrig/freezer and you will find out it has a design flaw. The freezer drain freezes and blocks forcing water to link on the floor. It is not a single event on my unit it happens to just about everyone. Please research yourself and save your money.

Comes with a built in flaw. A inaccessible drain line freezes up after 18 -24 months of use requiring a repair call from the never busy MAYTAG repairman. <br />Never again!!!!

Comment:
This refrigerator came with the house when we bought it. So, I don't know how much the previous owner paid. I can say it is not as good as my GE Profile that I left in my rental property. I don't particularly like the French door setup with the freezer being kind of a pain. This is a noisy fridge and I've already had to have service on it twice in 3 years so it's not that reliable as far as I'm concerned. The shelves are a plus but if you put things on the top shelf in the back, they tend to freeze. So be careful what you put there. The water dispenser is ok. The filter is hard to remove and they are on the pricey side. All in all, I would not recommend this refrigerator to anyone.
