In our lab tests, bottom freezer refrigerator models like the RF261BEAE[SR] are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below. Temperature performance: This combines results of tests measuring the accuracy of initial temperature settings along with how well a model 1) kept optimum temperatures in the refrigerator and freezer at the same time; 2) kept temperatures even throughout each compartment; 3) kept temperatures constant despite changes in room temperatures; and 4) maintained set temperatures even with very high room temperatures. Energy efficiency: This reflects electricity consumption (based on our tests) per cubic foot of measured usable storage space. For example, two models with the same energy cost per year may have different energy efficiencies -- the unit with more storage space being more efficient. Noise: Noise level was measured when the compressor started up and during steady running. Subjective judgments by a panel of listeners supplemented our noise-meter readings.

We are a small family and were impressed by the looks of this refrigerator, that it was well thought out interior design and easy access - both refrigerator & freezer. Too bad you don't find out about annoying NOISES coming from this thing until it's already been delivered. Now the hassle of having to return it and find something else!

French door arrangement makes it possible to store more items with easier access. <br />Freezer drawer does not let cold air dump from freezer when it is opened.<br />Easy to clean refrigerator.

All the items of this frige fit the bill for us, perfect size, no external gizmos, french door, very thought out internal design, super large ice bin. When it was first plugged in I thought it had a bit of noise but maybe its the way the model is and it wasn't too bad. But, after just a week this things compressors/fans are WAY too loud. It sounds like a 20+ year old model. Anyway its going back. Reading these reviews in search of refrigerator nirvanna is killing me. Not sure who I am going to buy now as all models seem to produce lemons.
