The Samsung RFG298HD[RS] (Lowe's) is part of the refrigerator
test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, bottom freezer refrigerator
models like the RFG298HD[RS] (Lowe's) are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.
This combines results of tests measuring the accuracy of initial temperature settings along with how well a model 1) kept optimum temperatures in the refrigerator and freezer at the same time; 2) kept temperatures even throughout each compartment; 3) kept temperatures constant despite changes in room temperatures; and 4) maintained set temperatures even with very high room temperatures.
This reflects electricity consumption (based on our tests) per cubic foot of measured usable storage space. For example, two models with the same energy cost per year may have different energy efficiencies -- the unit with more storage space being more efficient.
Noise level was measured when the compressor started up and during steady running. Subjective judgments by a panel of listeners supplemented our noise-meter readings.
The following models have the same ratings as Samsung RFG298HD[RS] (Lowe's).

About This Brand
Samsung's new bottom-freezer French-door refrigerators will come with new easy-open door systems, foldaway shelves, LED lighting, and dual evaporators. It's expected to be debuting the largest French-door model in the U.S. market with its 29-cubic-foot refrigerator.
Claimed capacity (cu. ft.) Claimed capacity is the manufacturer's estimate of the volume, in cubic feet, of interior space.
Claimed capacity (cu. ft.)
Cabinet-depth model Cabinet-depth models usually measure 27 to 28 inches deep, not quite flush with the cabinets, but at least three inches shallower than many standard 36-inch-wide models. You can get models with stainless exteriors or panel kits.
French-door style French door models are bottom-freezer refrigerators whose upper compartments have two narrow doors that open similarly to the doors of a side-by-side refrigerator. These narrower doors use less space in front of the refrigerator when opened, and allow access to either or both sides of the full-width fresh-food compartment. Typically more expensive, French-door models are usually 36 inches wide, though some newer models are 33 inches wide.
Water dispenser It is normally located in the fresh food compartment.
Stainless/SS-look option Stainless steel is stylish but it shows fingerprints. Another option: a vinyl-covered metal finish that gives you a stainless-steel look but resists smudging.
With several kids, our refrigerator takes a beating. This has been a great step up from our last refrigerator and has worked well enough for us so far, as we bought it on a great sale. I've read the complaints about the layout, but it works for what we need it to. It is very attractive, spacious, and easy to clean. The only cons we see are: that we are re-attaching the freezer door handle every couple months because our kids are hard on it (love the ergonomic design of it, though); the ice maker is really loud when ice falls; the ice freezes in huge chunks and either clogs up the top ice maker or fills the freezer drawer with unusable pieces; the ice tray in the bottom fills up and spills over underneath the drawer that is difficult to get to, to remove fallen ice. Our water dispenser also drips a few times after filling a glass, which the installer said was an air bubble in the line and would go away (after a year, it still hasn't) - this creates a lot of mineral buildup on the water dispenser. As with anything, it's easier to pick out complaints than positives, but for the price we paid, we are happy enough with this fridge.

Space For Tall Items
Bad Ice Maker
We are so disappointed in this appliance. While I like the space that this fridge/freezer offers, it has been problematic since we bought it 3 years ago. The icemaker in the freezer falls apart constantly, the water filter renders the water dispenser useless so we drink non-filtered water. The shelves and trays have cracked AND now a sensor has broken in the freezer and the freezer is not working. PLUS constant marks on stainless steel front!! UGH! Never again! Buy a different brand!!!

Great Fridge compared to my whirlpool
Holds Temperature Well
Me and my wife were looking to replace our 2 year old whirlpool which gave us nothing but problems and there tech support is terrible so wont buy them again. The Samsung had everything we needs and works great. It keeps helps with our veggies they last a lot longer then the old fridge. Only complaint I have is the shelving should be able to go higher since cant use all the shelves with tall bottles one to 2 more notches would of been helpful
