About - Samsung T9000 RF32FMQDBSR

The Samsung T9000 RF32FMQDBSR is part of the refrigerator test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, bottom freezer refrigerator models like the T9000 RF32FMQDBSR are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Temperature performance:
This combines results of tests measuring the accuracy of initial temperature settings along with how well a model 1) kept optimum temperatures in the refrigerator and freezer at the same time; 2) kept temperatures even throughout each compartment; 3) kept temperatures constant despite changes in room temperatures; and 4) maintained set temperatures even with very high room temperatures.

Energy efficiency:
This reflects electricity consumption (based on our tests) per cubic foot of measured usable storage space. For example, two models with the same energy cost per year may have different energy efficiencies -- the unit with more storage space being more efficient.

Noise:
Noise level was measured when the compressor started up and during steady running. Subjective judgments by a panel of listeners supplemented our noise-meter readings.

Comment:
Like everyone else here, my ice maker is also defective. For those who don't know, the ice maker is located in the top of the refrigerator section. It is plagued by what is now a well-known design issue: water slowly leaks inside it, even if the bin is full and it's not calling for ice to be made. This water overflows and freezes the bin in place. From there, the leaking water runs down the inside of the fridge, causing a frozen waterfall. I've spent more than four hours on the phone with customer service, including the Executive Customer Service Section, and received nothing but contradictions and an expert runaround. I am now the owner of a 500 pound, $3500 paperweight. Don't walk – RUN – away from this unit and this company. Consumer Reports, I see there is still no mention of the design flaw or the SEVERE customer service deficiencies. With absolutely no cautionary notation of these facts, my confidence in you is also waning.

This is the greatest fridge ever.... IF IT WORKED.

Ice Maker never really worked, then it froze up. Samsung replaced the Ice Maker and circuit board. Worked for about 3 months then started to leak water.

Then the kicker... it stopped cooling 1 month after the ice maker started to leak. it was out of warranty by 1 month by then. Samsung would not repair it under warranty because of that. Luckily we purchased the protection plan from the place where bought it. They tried to repair it 3 times, no luck. They are refunding our money. Thank God.

But it is such a great fridge.... and yes we are contemplating another one... but I would NOT recommend it for anyone else.

I asked the retailer where we bought the unit to contact the local Samsun rep. He did and the rep said there is nothing wrong with them and they are the best selling units, we must have gotten a lemon. And he also indicated that no modifications have been made to address the ice maker issues or the cooling issue. What a shame.

Consumer Reports, you have to look at all these reviews and re-evaluate the rating of this unit (and the chef collection unit as well).

DO NOT BUY THIS UNIT!!

Had the refrigerator for 14 months when the top half started to fail. Repairman came out and said that it can't be fixed in the house (leak in the evap system). First report was that it would be replaced with a new unit (still under warranty). After not hearing a confirmation from Samsung a few days later, we received a different story of a refund, not replacement. After getting them to agree to a replacement, they said it would be the next day that they would call to set up a delivery day (7-10 days later). 3 days later and not hearing from them again, this phone call turned into them giving us a depreciated refund, claiming it wasn't under warranty (5year on the refrigeration) they finally agreed that it was under warranty and that a refund of $xxxxx would be given. After telling them that that wasn't the full price of the purchase, they were trying to get out of refunding the tax which everyone refunds when you return something, they agreed. So in 3-5 days we are supposedly finally getting a refund which will not be used to ever buy another samsung again.
