About - Samsung T9000 RF32FMQDBSR

The Samsung T9000 RF32FMQDBSR is part of the refrigerator test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, bottom freezer refrigerator models like the T9000 RF32FMQDBSR are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Temperature performance:
This combines results of tests measuring the accuracy of initial temperature settings along with how well a model 1) kept optimum temperatures in the refrigerator and freezer at the same time; 2) kept temperatures even throughout each compartment; 3) kept temperatures constant despite changes in room temperatures; and 4) maintained set temperatures even with very high room temperatures.

Energy efficiency:
This reflects electricity consumption (based on our tests) per cubic foot of measured usable storage space. For example, two models with the same energy cost per year may have different energy efficiencies -- the unit with more storage space being more efficient.

Noise level was measured when the compressor started up and during steady running. Subjective judgments by a panel of listeners supplemented our noise-meter readings.

Like others stated the ice maker is to say the least problematic. Ice get's jammed when emptying into the ice bin. It seems that having the ice maker in the fridge may cause some type of melting and re-freezing, I've resorted to some preventitive maintenance to control the issue. I am a bit surprised that CR has not replicated this issue and called it out as almost all internet review forums have mentioned the ice maker. The main problem however is that after 10mo the top fridge section would not stay cold. Service guy came out and apparently there are some areas that the service person cannot service based on error codes. The repair guy condemed the unit and Samsung Product Support offered to refund since we are under warrenty.

I was happy with Samsungs service response overall, but the waiting was made easier as we have a freezer and mini fridge to wait things out.

We will most likely stick with Samsung when we get our next fridge, but maybe not the 4 door model. The fridge itself is great looking, the storage layout and bins are all very functional, lighting is great and the cool select door is excellent for drinks if you do not need a lot of freezer space.

Even though we had issues and apparently others as well, I would still recommend the fridge. Just make sure you have the room and ventilation as this thing is a monster.

Bad Ice Maker
Best Uses
Great space but TERRIBLE icemaker. Multiple episodes of icemaker tray freezing in place and difficult (now impossible) to remove. Only solution online is to unplug the refrigerator for 2 days to defrost it! Not a good solution!

Icemaker is a PROBLEM
Best Uses
We have only owned this fridge for 4 months but the icemaker freezes in and then it gives us crushed ice no matter if we choose crushed or cubed. Phoned the 1-800 number twice now but still the same.
How long have you owned it:
Three-to-six months
Bottom Line
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
