About - Samsung T9000 RF32FMQDBSR

The Samsung T9000 RF32FMQDBSR is part of the refrigerator test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, bottom freezer refrigerator models like the T9000 RF32FMQDBSR are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Temperature performance:
This combines results of tests measuring the accuracy of initial temperature settings along with how well a model 1) kept optimum temperatures in the refrigerator and freezer at the same time; 2) kept temperatures even throughout each compartment; 3) kept temperatures constant despite changes in room temperatures; and 4) maintained set temperatures even with very high room temperatures.

Energy efficiency:
This reflects electricity consumption (based on our tests) per cubic foot of measured usable storage space. For example, two models with the same energy cost per year may have different energy efficiencies -- the unit with more storage space being more efficient.

Noise:
Noise level was measured when the compressor started up and during steady running. Subjective judgments by a panel of listeners supplemented our noise-meter readings.

Comment:
We bought this refrigerator in November and have had 4 repair visits for the ice maker, including 2 circuit board replacements, in 7 months. The ice maker is in the fridge and the ice starts melting & re-freezes, jamming up the ice maker. We cannot open the top ice compartment because it keeps freezing shut. It gives you the option for cubes but only makes crushed ice. It has worked sporadically and now has a shot of water coming out before the ice.

The manufacturer has conceded that they cannot fix it and are coming to get it and giving us our money back.

It is a huge fridge and we were shocked at how much food actually fits in it. The 2 section freezer was easier to organize than the one big drawer.

We had another french door fridge without an ice maker previously. I miss the deli drawer from my old one.

We are very disappointed that the ice maker never worked right because otherwise we really liked the fridge.

Comment:
I love the design and hate the ice maker. The refrigerator is less than a year and the ice maker stopped working. The technician came and couldn't release it. He said that it is a result of a bad design. To fix the ice maker the refrigerator has to be disconnected for 2 days in order to fix the problem!!!

Comment:
This is the refrigerator of my dreams, even though there are now only two of us and it is HUGE. I finally don't have to cram stuff in to the refrigerator and stack things on top of each other. I open it up and THERE IT ALL IS! And the freezer space is so easy to use, no need to dig or stoop down and peer into the back of a dark hole. It's all there waiting for me, visible enough I'll not forget to use it and have to throw it away. Negatives are that the user manual is terrible, difficult to figure out how some features work; positive is that Samsung has a user hotline with no waiting on hold where a human will explain to you all the things that the user manual doesn't. Biggest negative is that I really miss having a deli drawer that will corral small items like cheese and yogurt and deli meats so they don't get lost--something my old refrigerator had and this new one doesn't.
