About - Whirlpool Gold GI6FARXX[Q]

The Whirlpool Gold GI6FARXX[Q] is part of the refrigerator test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, bottom freezer refrigerator models like the Gold GI6FARXX[Q] are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Temperature performance:
This combines results of tests measuring the accuracy of initial temperature settings along with how well a model 1) kept optimum temperatures in the refrigerator and freezer at the same time; 2) kept temperatures even throughout each compartment; 3) kept temperatures constant despite changes in room temperatures; and 4) maintained set temperatures even with very high room temperatures.

Energy efficiency:
This reflects electricity consumption (based on our tests) per cubic foot of measured usable storage space. For example, two models with the same energy cost per year may have different energy efficiencies -- the unit with more storage space being more efficient.

Noise:
Noise level was measured when the compressor started up and during steady running. Subjective judgments by a panel of listeners supplemented our noise-meter readings.

Comment:
There are many complaints on YouTube from consumers regarding the defect in the drain line. Whirlpool has a redesigned part to fix the problem, but they are not disclosing the issue to new buyers, nor will Whirlpool cover the cost to fix their design flaw.
I am very disappointed in the way Whirlpool has chosen to ignore the issue at the consumers expense.

Comment:
Love the design but water leaks under freezer drawer and it has to be chipped out. If not chipped out it leaks onto kitchen floor. There should be a recall!!!
Paid alot of money to get a good product, should have went with something costing $500 or less, then would not have this issue! Very disappointed.

Comment:
our refrigarator of this model. has started leaking water internally. which is pooling in the freezer floor pan below. and we are having to disassemble the wire frame freezer shelf. ever so often to go in and chip out the accumulating ice.which will begin to melt and drain out in the floor when it gets too thick and built up.and our first complaint was the water dispenser.the going joke in our house is if we had 99 squirrels lined up to pee in our glass they could fill it up faster than the super slow trickle of water just shy of dripping out of the tiny tap.and gnats seem to be attracted to the nozzle.we often find them in our glass because they lodge them selves in the nozzle.i dont know if they sleep there or go there to die LoL.
