Comment:
The icemaker does not dispense cubed ice at all and is not very efficient dispensing any ice. After the third repair call, the repair person spoke to an engineer at Samsung who told him if we were getting even 30/70 cubed/crushed ice, it was normal, that this model would not dispense cubed ice only. My question then is, why have cubed ice as an option?! Choosing cubed ice results in the auger turning and turning and finally dispensing a mangled mixture of partial cubes, hunks and slivers.

We use this refrigerator as our main, in-home frig. The eye appeal of this model is very nice and I love the flexibility of the shelving, both in the doors and interior. We also love the bottom freezer (this is the first time we have had a freezer on the bottom) capacity and convenience.

This is the ONLY refrigerator that I have had issues with within the first year of purchase. Behind the refrigerator section back panel we have experienced excessive frosting. You can push the plastic and hear the frost crunch. Eventually, the frost forms around the cooling fan, causing the fan to clip the frost build-up and make a horribly loud noise. I actually had to unplug it so we could get some sleep. As a fix, I initially unplugged the refrigerator for 24 hours, removed all the water from the ice melt, and had about 6 months of noise free operation. The second time, about 4 months of noise free use, and finally, called the repair man the third time. The repair was to install a longer sensor (evidently the original was inadequate in size) and move the sensor closer to the fan. This repair was done only a short time ago, so no confirmation that this fix is complete.

Our second consternation is surrounding the ice maker. It makes ice, but you may want to play your audio book and listen to a chapter as you wait for the in-door ice maker to spit out, in agonizingly small doses, the ice. Oh yes, and use your ear buds if you actually want to hear your audio book (or television) during this process. If the glasses in your home are narrow at the opening, place your finger around the rim to keep the ice from shooting out on the floor. If you use the crushed ice feature, be prepared to get about a teaspoon of water during the next use, as the ice stays trapped in the shoot and melts. The bottom ledge in the ice dispenser area holds very little of the melted ice and so we have experienced water dripping down the door and onto the floor, especially when opening the door (the swinging action causes the water to spill). We have now placed a mat in front of the refrigerator to counter slipping on the floor or wet socks should you step in the puddle.

Does the bad outweigh our delight of the features and eye appeal of this model? Only if the fix works. I can't see myself packing my food in ice chests every 6 months for a thaw and another 6 months of use.

Would I recommend this model to a friend? No. In fact, I have found myself having this conversation with two couples. Were it not for the cost of replacement, I would not hesitate a trade for the promise of a better model.

Love this refrigerator overall. Everything functions well except plastic pantry door located on bottom of refrigerator section. Main problem is with the tracking system. Unless the door is opened with VERY deliberate care and precision, it goes off track - basically ALL the time! I called Samsung's Warranty Dept. and was told, ...It's just the way this refrigerator is made. The floor model here at Samsung does the same thing. But it's not a warrant issue. Really??? As a work around, I find that if I don't open the pantry door all the way, it doesn't go off track; but it isn't fully functional then either.

Again, overall it functions great: Food stays fresh very long, it's quiet, water/ice maker works fine, very easy to locate food = good layout. (Note my refrigerator was made 5/2014, maybe issues encountered by other reviewers were re-engineered and corrected.)
