About - Whirlpool WRF560SEY[M]

The Whirlpool WRF560SEY[M] is part of the refrigerator test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, french-door refrigerator models like the WRF560SEY[M] are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Temperature performance:
This combines results of tests measuring the accuracy of initial temperature settings along with how well a model 1) kept optimum temperatures in the refrigerator and freezer at the same time; 2) kept temperatures even throughout each compartment; 3) kept temperatures constant despite changes in room temperatures; and 4) maintained set temperatures even with very high room temperatures.

Energy efficiency:
This reflects electricity consumption (based on our tests) per cubic foot of measured usable storage space. For example, two models with the same energy cost per year may have different energy efficiencies -- the unit with more storage space being more efficient.

Noise level was measured when the compressor started up and during steady running. Subjective judgments by a panel of listeners supplemented our noise-meter readings.

Poor Support Fr Whirlpool

I had the same problem as welder Dave. The freezer kept getting frosted over and the fridge wouldn't cool. The repairmen didn't know how to fix it. Instead of replacing it they kept trying to the replace a part. After two years and about five service visits Whirlpool finally agreed to replace it for an additional $271. I only got this model because I needed a really small unit.

Looks good but isn't.

Flimsy Shelves

Not enough shelving options. Didn't realize it was so small inside. I liked the freezer section at first. Ice maker bracket needed to be pulled down to make ice. It's okay now. Now the freezer door won't close. One of the metal slider brackets won't retract causing the door to stay open. This might be okay for a single person or couple. Just no room inside. Not a good product.

Buyer Beware - Rusts After 2 Months

Poor quality. Doors are rusting after 2 months. Manufacturer claims this is not covered by the 1 year warranty. They consider this cosmetic and only cover cosmetic items for 30 days. Also issues with the interior - drawers fall out and ice maker sticks in the off position when the freezer is opened. Interior is poorly designed with limited space and flexibility. Buyer beware - choose another brand!
