About - Whirlpool WRT771REY[W]

The Whirlpool WRT771REY[W] is part of the refrigerator test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, top freezer refrigerator models like the WRT771REY[W] are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Temperature performance:
This combines results of tests measuring the accuracy of initial temperature settings along with how well a model 1) kept optimum temperatures in the refrigerator and freezer at the same time; 2) kept temperatures even throughout each compartment; 3) kept temperatures constant despite changes in room temperatures; and 4) maintained set temperatures even with very high room temperatures.

Energy efficiency:
This reflects electricity consumption (based on our tests) per cubic foot of measured usable storage space. For example, two refrigerators with the same energy cost per year may have different energy efficiencies -- the unit with more storage space being more efficient.

Noise:
Noise level was measured when the compressor started up and during steady running. Subjective judgments by a panel of listeners supplemented our noise-meter readings.

Comment:
The fridge arrived severely damaged on the exterior, so badly damaged that it no longer sat flat on the floor but had to be shimmed with about 1 1/2 of shim on one side. It sits very crooked even so. The body of the fridge is paper thin. Whirlpool provided no compensation and would not return the product. According to the repair service, Whirlpool is the company which is most unlikely to compensate their clients.

nothing great to say about any of the Whirlpool appliances we bought, the the fridge is the worst! 2 rapair calls over the huge drawer than comes smashing down if you put more than a few things in it. ice maker broke down, and when it works its so load you can hear it add water 40' away, just bad product that i'm stuck with, worst 6 months with a fridge ever, i hope to sell used but feel bad giving this junk to someone else.
