I have used this slow cooker about 5 times a month since 2009. I work 10-12 hour days, so I relied on this to make dinner for my family. About a year into using this, I started to get an occasional phone call from the pet sitter who noticed that it was turned off. I thought perhaps I had forgotten to turn it on before I left in the morning and it didn't happen every time I used it. In the last 6 months, my husband has noticed that it was turned off when he got home. The food was cooked and warm but the slowcooker was turned off. There is no program for it to turn completely off. It should turn to keep warm when the food is done cooking. The last time I used it, I happened to be home and one hour into cooking on the manual program, it turned itself from high to low and beeped very loudly. The outside of the machine was very hot and the inside was hardly warm at all. I would say it has died and is getting a quick burial in the garbage. I expected it to last longer than the one year it worked reliably. Beside the problem with the electronics, the high setting would boil the liquid. That makes for tough meat. I can't believe CR recommends this slowcooker. Did they even use it????

I crock pot cook 2-3 times a week since I am gone about 11 hours a day for work. I have had it a little over a year now. It gets a lot of use. I literally set it and forget it. I program it in the morning to cook however many hours and it automatically switches itself to warm when cooking is complete. No over cooking. I have not used the temperature probe yet since it works so well programing the time. Dinners are perfect each time. This crock pot being programmable was exactly what I was looking for. Love it!

I loved this slow cooker until it stopped working. I had it a couple years only using it about once every other month. It shut off in the middle of cooking the last time I used it, luckily I realized it soon enough and was able to turn it back on before the food spoiled, however it shut off a couple more times before it finished cooking the meal. I tried using it again the other day and it continuously shut off after less than being on for one minute. Ended up cooking on the stove top so had slightly different outcome than I wanted.
