Both I and my daughter bought the Breville ovens about two years ago. They are very versatile and replace a lot of uses for the conventional oven, and are cheaper to operate. She bakes a lot in hers.

It uses pre-programmed algorithms for each item selected from the selector functions. It actually cycles the heating elements on and off for both the top and bottom elements, depending on what you are cooking. It broils, bakes, and reheats.

Like all toaster ovens, it gets very hot on the top and one should place a cutting board on it to keep people from getting burned.

I especially like to reheat or cook items that would turn out soggy in the microwave oven. It does a good job of keeping things crispy. Sometimes I use both, using the Breville to get the preheated item crispy.

Like many CPU driven appliances, it is susceptable to voltage surges and should be plugged into a good surge protector. This will extend its life. Find one that clamps at 330 volts and has at least 2,000 joules of protection. Cost about $20, or so. Very cheap insurance. Buy them instead of extended warranty plans, for all electronic appliances.

I also own a Breville toaster and it works great.

temperature control knob wonky
Worked Well - For A While
Imprecise Controls
Lousy Temp Knob
Best Uses
It worked well for about 2 years and then the digital temperature control knob became wonky. Turning it clockwise may result in no temp change, a higher temp, or a lower one. Same for counterclockwise.

Good for 2 years.....
Excellent Heating
Not A Long Term Unit
Best Uses
The oven was great for 2 years and now the entire control knobs are not functioning . The Frozen alert continues beeping, the heating does not stabilize and the unit is pretty much defunct. Called Breville and for $120 bucks we can return and be fixed and returned . They weren't much help on trouble shooting other than to suggest to unplug and retry. Very disappointed considering the unit is secondary to our main oven so usage is not but 3-4 times a week.
