We like the product when it works. Ours was toasting bread just 23 months after we bought it and the fuse blew. I fixed it following instructions from the web after company wanted $119. Part cost me UNDER $5.

We mostly toast bread, use for shake and bake chicken or pork, bake salmon and other fish, reheat pizza and crusty bread or rolls. Also great for making small batches of refrigerated dough break and bake cookies. Only broiled meat once and decided that was not what we wanted to do with it.

Recently it died again and I need to replace the fuse again. The original part was rated at 10 amps, but this 1800 watt device should draw up to 15 amps following Ohms Law.

My wife and I have used small ovens like this one for years. It's just the two of us so its small size (smaller than our conventional oven) makes it ideal for cooking, toasting, and reheating meals.

I decided to splurge (yes, I believe $250+ for a toaster over is splurging) and get this Breville toaster oven a couple of years ago. It worked very well for about 6 months.

At the six month mark, the dials became very finicky. Whether you were trying to dial in a specific temperature or time, it would take multiple attempts to land on the right number. I felt less like I was using a precision device and more like I was spinning the money wheel on The Price Is Right and hoping for the best. This behavior got worse and worse over time.

At the one year mark, the LED backlight on the display started to get dim. It's completely out now and very difficult to use.

I am also noticing that items are not cooking evenly or as well anymore. This particular issue has brought me back into the market for a new toaster oven.

Maybe I need to reset my expectations and only count on one year of service out of devices like this. I was saddened to find it was the highest rated device in this category by CR. I believe there are some significant reliability issues with this product. If you have $250/year in your budget for toaster ovens, I wouldn't hesitate to get this product. If you're like me and think something like this should last 3-5 years, I would avoid this like the plague.

I am not sure what I am going to replace our oven with at this point. The search continues!

We're on our second one, the first died after three years and was replaced for free by a retailer. It's hard to imagine our kitchen without it since we rely on it more than our regular oven for baking, broiling, reheating, thawing, and of course toasting.

The appliance is nice looking, easy to clean with a pull out crumb tray, and is very consistent with temps. The only niggling complaint is that when it is inactive you have to touch a control 3-4 times to wake it up.
