After getting this toaster home, I set the browning control to about 3.5 on the scale of 1-6. The toast was charred almost to the point of smoke. At a setting of 2, the toast was still a bit dark for my tasts. I had to lower the setting to about 1.5 to get the toast how I wanted it. The control is very imprecise and is difficult to work properly. Wish I hadn't bought it. Hope it breaks soon.

6 Toasting Settings
Easy To Clean
I am happy with the 6 toaster settings. I like my whole wheat toast somewhat dark and the highest setting does the job. My wife just likes her toast warm and the lowest settings work well.
I am dubious about too many bells and whistle features on some toasters. I did not want a motorized lift nor a led countdown display.
I especially like the cancellation button, which allows you to pop the toast at anytime.
The reheat feature is also useful for toast that has already popped up and has not been removed and needs to be warmed up.
The bagel setting seems to apply more heat so bagels are toasted well on both sides.
I haven't used the defrost setting

Poor Performance Disgraces Cuisinart
Doesn't Heat Evenly
Worst toaster we have ever owned. You have to constantly turn whatever you are toasting because it only toasts on one side of each slot.
